A Christmas gift box's global journey
A seemingly ordinary Christmas wicker gift box hides a story that spans mountains and seas. It journeys from a wicker weaving village in Linshu, Shandong, to festive tables around the world. This 3,000-kilometer journey is a testament to the passion and craftsmanship of craftsmen.
In the willow weaving village of Linshu, Shandong, 60-year-old Master Li weaves the bases of Christmas gift boxes using traditional techniques inherited from her ancestors—hands that have crafted 100,000 pieces, sold in 20 countries. From the selection of natural willow wood in Linshu’s 6,000-square-meter workshop, to environmental certification testing for German supermarkets, to the holiday dinner tables of American families, every step is woven with the meticulous care of the artisans.
This is not only the journey of a Christmas gift box, but also a testimony to the craftsmanship of the “China Wickerwork Capital” going global, allowing the world to feel the unique charm of natural aesthetics.
